SpaceX and Northrop Grumman

SpaceX is building one of the world's most remarkable manufacturing and production operations. Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, this is one of the only facilities in the world where you can see the entirely of a launch vehicle or spacecraft come together under one roof. SpaceX is super vertically integrated, building >85% of our product content in-house; both by mass and by value and thereby building nearly every flight critical component for our product lines. Almost every fabrication and assembly process imaginable in technology is used in one way or another at SpaceX.

Northrop Grumman, Advanced Composites Center manufactures state-of-the-art composite structures. Utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques, Just-In-Time Manufacturing, and advanced techniques the Center’s maintains its competitive edge. It is capable of fabricating advance composites products from the raw material stage to finished products. The Composites Center processes over 2,700 pounds of material creating more than 400 finished parts per week. The Self-inspection System provides each mechanic with the tools necessary to maintain first-time quality throughout the fabrication process. The Center currently fabricates parts in support of the F/A-18C/D, F/A-18E/F&G, F-35, and B-2 advanced aircraft programs.
